REcapture™ employs specialized processing that separates rare earth elements from equipment and components.
Equipment containing rare earth magnets is collected at one of REcapture’s seven U.S. locations. Our teams identify components containing recoverable materials and separate them from for magnet extraction.
Using manual and mechanical processes, rare earth magnets are removed from motors, generators, and electronic assemblies. Other ferrous components, non-ferrous and plastics are also sorted. Materials are prepared for transport to the REcapture™ processing facility in Boone, Iowa.
REcapture™ utilizes CMR’s patented ADR process that was developed by the Critical Materials Institute at Ames National Labs. The pH neutral technology separates rare earths from magnets, creating a concentrated and sought after mixed rare earth oxide. Whole magnets, swarf and shreds can be processed. CMR’s process is backed by multiple peer reviewed articles and TEA/LCA reports highlighting a 70% reduction in CO2 compared to mining operations. The process does not oxidize the magnet prior to processing, requiring less energy and lower environmental impact than alternative technologies.
